Should You Get AirPods Pro If You're A Mac User?

Great sounding headsets like the Apple AirPods Pro can make listening to music or watching videos a much more enjoyable experience. However, there has been a lot of speculation around using the Apple earphones with Mac devices. Here in this article we discuss the pros and cons of the Airpods Pro and how you can use them with your Mac.

About Airpods Pro

Airpods are regarded as the pioneers of Truly Wireless (TWS) earphones. They gained popularity amongst iPhone users and quickly became a symbol of technological luxury. Before Airpods, most headsets, even with Bluetooth, had a small wire which made them feel inconvenient in comparison.

However, manufacturers soon realized the potential such devices had and started to compete for their share on the market. This resulted in a wave of cheap TWS earphones, some even as low as $20. Airpods still remained popular, selling about 60 million units in 2019, which makes up 71% of all truly wireless headphones sold.

Undoubtedly, these are one of the best accessories sold by Apple. The fame of this product made Apple manufacture two successors called the Airpods 2 and Airpods Pro - the latter of which is considered one of the best active noise cancellation, truly wireless earphones out there. Even non-Apple fans are using them with their phones. Here is why Airpods Pro an excellent choice for Mac users.

Pros Of Airpods Pro

If you're having trouble deciding if Airpods Pro is right for you, don't worry. Here is a list of all the pros that come with the new headset.

Excellent Sound Quality

The most obvious reason one would purchase Airpods Pro is because of their excellent sound quality. If you use these with the default settings, you won't be blown away with the sound quality. However, they come with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) as well as a transparency mode.

ANC blocks out any sounds from the surroundings and completely isolates you which simply feels amazing. If you want to hear the outside world, there is a solution for you as well. There is a transparency mode which uses the microphones for you to listen to things other than audio playing from your Airpods. This is especially useful in places such as the airport when want to hear the announcements.

Rubber Ear Seal

The original Airpods didn't have a proper fit in most ears. With the Pro model, Apple introduced rubber tips that fit most ears and won't fall off. Moreover, they don't feel uncomfortable as compared to other rubber tip silicon. It also provides an excellent passive cancellation through a good seal.

Pocketable Case

With smaller earphones, you can't really have a big battery, so manufacturers often make the case extra-large to compensate. Luckily, none of the Airpods Pro lineups suffers from that. While the Airpods Pro case is certainly large, it's still easily pocketable. The case also provides a quick charge for those who don't want to waste time charging.

Seamless Pairing

Apple is known for simplicity, and with their Airpods - they have shown that. The pairing process is really easy for all users. Once paired to a device, you'll simply need to take out the earphones from their case to connect to your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This seamless integration into the Apple eco-system makes the Airpods a great choice for Mac users.

Cons Of Airpods Pro

No product is without its fair share of flaws. While AirPods are fantastic, they do have some cons attached to them. These aren't deal-breakers, but buyers should be aware of them when making a decision.

Insufficient Battery Life

As previously mentioned, manufacturers can't fit a large battery into something as small as TWS earbuds. As a result, Airpods Pro have a battery life of about 4 to 5 hours. This is up there with other similar headsets. Fortunately, the case has a quick charge and provides a full days' worth of juice. If you want better battery life, then we recommend staying away from truly wireless headphones as a whole.

High Price Tag

Apple is a company known for charging high prices for their products. It's not surprising to see that the Airpods Pro cost over $200. You get your money worth with the product, but this isn't a price that everyone can afford.

Connecting Airpods to Mac

Once you've bought your Airpods Pro, you'll need to set it up with your Mac. The pairing process is fairly straightforward. However, if you want to pair it on two devices, then it can get tricky, such as your iPhone and Mac. Luckily, we have a step-by-step guide on the process, you can check it out here.

Conclusion

We highly recommend that if you're buying a truly wireless earphone for your Mac, you should consider the Airpods Pro. While better options out there might exist, such as the Sony WF-1000XM3 which provides slightly better sound, however, the AirPods Pro is a better package overall.
